As we mentioned in our blog last week, new legislation will soon make it illegal to sell or professionally install a window blind that does not meet new child safety standards. Where you have corded window blinds already installed, there are a number of blind cord safety devices available that can be quickly and easily fitted to make your blinds safer.
- - Cleats: Cleats should be securely fixed to an adjacent wall, at least 1.5 metres above the floor. This allows you to keep your blinds chain or cord secured and out of the reach of young children.
- - Cord/Chain tidys: Securely fixed to an adjacent wall at the maximum distance from the top of the blind to ensure your chain or cord is permanently held taught.
- - Chain-break connectors: Should undue pressure be applied to a chain fitted with a chain-break connector, the device will break apart. Upon inspection the chain can be reconnected.
The cords and chains in your window blinds pose a risk to babies and young children. We are happy to offer any help and advice with blind safety devices you may require, so do not hesitate to contact us by calling 01603 789678.
